Molly in chains for submission

Brace Yourself

That is Showtimes new slogan. Why, you might ask, are you writing about Showtime Michael?

Well they have a new TV series call “Submission” Here is what they say

Beautiful but unfulfilled Ashley has her eyes opened to the tantalizing possibilities of BDSM when she discovers the popular erotic novel SLAVE by Nolan Keats. But her fascination with the mysterious Mr. Keats leads her into a sexy but dangerous love triangle, and tests the boundaries of her own sexual limitations. Part romantic drama, part mystery, this tale of seduction, obsession and sexual power from acclaimed adult writer/director Jacky St. James will leave you breathless and begging for more.

Yeah, it sucks just as much as you might think it does.

I was going to write a synopsis of the first four episodes I’ve watched, but when I started it just made me so depressed to chronicle the same old tired cliches. An unsatisfied woman, reads a kinky book and meets the Dom author who can’t keep his shirt on for more than thirty seconds (which seems to be about the same length of time he can have sex before orgasming)and they instantly start a BDSM relationship .

He meets Ashley at a party and is instantly struck by her and like any good Dom finds her room and steals her bra and panties to have another woman wear so he can pretend it is her. No, no, that’s not creepy at all (yes it is) but not to worry, once he is revealed as the author of the sexy book she has been reading she is ready to be his slave. No discussion about limits or boundaries or anything at all about what might be coming for her.

There are other characters and subplots, but frankly meh, the sex is meh, the acting is meh, the story is meh, meh, meh, meh.

This show doesn’t even make it across the Red Shoe Diaries level of quality. It is high budget softcore porn that doesn’t show BDSM well at all.

That last bit is what gets me irritated. They could have done something interested and complicated but they didn’t. Maybe I am just expecting too much and being grumpy. Perhaps they will dig deep and uncover hidden depths, but I am not holding my breath.

Instead I will wait and see what the next season of “You, Me, Her” brings, because while that show also chose to play it safe in many ways, they at least have done it well. I don’t find myself shouting at the screen going WTAF?

So I am going to have to say that I am not going to submit to Submission.

Please feel free to tell me how wrong I am in the comments, because all the words above are just one Doms opinion.

  1. I kind of wondered about this show. I don’t have Showtime, so I haven’t seen it, but based on the comments from others as well as you, it sounds like I’m not missing much.

There is a time and place for erotic fantasies… I write plenty of my own. But when you are trying to titillate the rest of the world about BDSM without trying to educate them too, then you send the wrong message.

No wonder there are so many messages from newbies on Fetlife who just don’t get it and only go by popular fiction.

  2. I watched the 1st episode after reading this, fully prepared to defend it because shiny to series rarely show reality, but oh my lord it really is crap. The acting is awful, even the actors seems embarrassed about it 😀
