I was doing some work around the house today while listening to my Zune (Yes I bought and still have a Zune) and thinking about what I might write for today’s post when a song from my playlist came on that made me think of her. It made me think about the important things in my life and how they are tied to music. It also made me think of this Shakespeare quote:
If music be the food of love, play on;
Most people know that part, but not the lines that follow.
Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die.
Now Will was a fine observer of the human condition and I get what the character was trying to do here. He was trying to move on and fall out of love, and that by playing the music that fed love he would get sick of it and get over his obsession with love.
I don’t think that will ever work. I do think that music fuels love.
When Molly and I were LDR one of the things that formed part of our courtship was sharing music that we loved and some of those song have become part of the soundtrack of us. Some of those songs even inspire the D/s part of our relationship. A little factoid that even Molly doesn’t know (until she proofreads this) is that my very first intro into kink was this song
Here is a short list of songs that have meaning to us.
If I had a Million Dollars (our first concert, maybe even our first date was BNL)
100 Years to Live
1,2,3,4
Good Riddance (the good version)
Good Riddance (The horrible version she loves)
Bad Things
Birdhouse in Your Soul
Music has been such a big part of my life, and of our love that I can’t hear these songs (and many more) without feeling the love and kink we share. I can’t imagine we will ever grow tired of them.
So we shall play on, and and feed our love.
Michael
P.S. If you have a song or songs that express your love, or your kink, or your love of kink I would love for you to leave them in the comments. 🙂
When TN & I were LDR, we did the same with music. Sharing favorites, listening to it together, etc. This was in the days of dial up up so we were pretty much listening on CDs. LOL I’m with you on the Green Day song. Anyone else is just wrong singing that one. Sorry Molly. 😉
